From the press

The years go by, and I keep trying one Linux desktop distro after the other. But for more than a decade now, I come back to Linux Mint. Why? It's simple: Year in and year out, Mint remains the best, easiest-to-use Linux desktop.

Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols
ZDNet

Mint has become the very best example of what a Linux desktop should be: fast, easy, pleasing to the eye, useful and productive. Others, still, see Mint as the ideal desktop for Windows refugees, or those who are trying out Linux for the first time, and want an operating system that essentially works 'out of the box'.

David Hayward
Linux Format

Linux Mint's latest release will have an exceptionally wide appeal. Anyone looking for an incredibly stable, robust, fast, clean, and user-friendly desktop operating system could do a whole lot worse. [] Every Linux desktop distribution should strive to do exactly what Linux Mint has accomplished--create a desktop that is the perfect balance of speed, features, and user-friendliness.

Jack Wallen
TechRepublic

There's a good reason for that popularity: Linux Mint just works. It isn't "changing the desktop computer paradigm," or "innovating" in "groundbreaking" ways. The team behind Mint is just building a desktop operating system that looks and functions a lot like every other desktop operating system you've used, which is to say you'll be immediately comfortable and stop thinking about your desktop and start using it to do actual work.

Scott Gilbertson
ars technica

Exploring the bevy of Linux distributions out there is a fun part of the hobby, but for your first installation, you will likely want something popular and beginner-friendly, so it's easy to get help when you need it. That's why I recommend starting with Linux Mint.

Whitson Gordon
PCMag

Linux Mint has again shown why it deserves to stay among the best Linux distribution for beginners. If you’re thinking to migrate from Windows to Linux, you should definitely get your hand on Linux Mint.

How to install the real Firefox on Debian?

First, you need to remove the existing Iceweasel package (I think you can use as well):

Then, download the latest Linux build of Firefox directly from Mozilla. Extract the files, and navigate to that folder, and run it. If you want, make an icon on your desktop, and you can also make a link to the binary in to make it easier to launch. If you have root access, you can also install Firefox in so all users will be able to run it.

After this, double-check that automatic updates are enabled, and you should be up and running!

If you want a package-based one, you can use Linux Mint's Debian package repo (as noted in the comments below, be aware that this may cause conflicts with automatic updates and other Debian packages in some cases). To do this, add the following line to your file:

And add the GPG key for that repo. Then, just run:

And you should be good to go!

The default install is German, to install in any other language, you can manually run:

Packages names for other common langages include (official repository list - scroll half way down):

Not everyone gets by with the default browser on their computer, and when it comes to picking an alternative, Firefox is one of the most popular out there, having clawed back support from upstart rivals like Google Chrome and Opera in recent years by switching to a rapid release cycle, ensuring major new versions of the browser are released every six weeks.

It’s true to say that individual updates often fail to deliver anything substantial, but cumulatively they roll together to produce a web browser that is radically different to the one – version 4 – that marked the start of a new era back in

Some of the landmark new features we’ve seen include a per-site Permissions Manager, enhanced Sync options, tabs on demand, silent updates and add-on enhancements. We also saw the launch of specific development branches including UX, which has led to the new Australis user interface, which sees a streamlined tab, revamped menu and customisation features.

One group particularly well served by the rapid release cycle have been developers, and a plethora of tools from Javascript Scratchpad (from Firefox 6) to full-blown Developer Toolbar (from Firefox 16) have worked their way into successive builds as Firefox courts this important community of users.

And underpinning this all are a constantly evolving set of performance improvements, standards support (HTML5 and CSS3 are constantly being added to, for instance) and bug fixes.

Verdict:

If you're going to stick it to the man and avoid the Chromium browser engine, then supporting Firefox is a no-brainer.

Most web browsers are installed in Windows as bit versions by default, Firefox being the exception. If you installed the default download of Firefox, you have the bit version, not the bit version, even if you’re running a bit version of Windows.

Say you recently got a new Windows computer. After installing the bit version of Firefox from the main page, you installed your favorite add-ons, restored your backed up bookmarks, and even set up multiple profiles for personal and work purposes. But, now you want to upgrade to the bit version of Firefox for better performance. You could uninstall the bit version and then install the bit version, but doing so will remove your Firefox user data, such as saved passwords, bookmarks, settings, extensions, and themes.

You could back up your profile folders from the bit version of Firefox and then restore them after uninstalling Firefox and installing the bit version. But that&#;s a bit of a hassle, and there is an easier way.

RELATED:How to Check if You Are Running a bit or bit Version of Firefox

NOTE: Firefox bit can only be installed on bit Windows. If you’re not sure which version of Windows you’re running, you can easily check. If you’re running bit Windows, you cannot upgrade Firefox to bit.

If you’re not sure if you’re running bit or bit Firefox, follow our procedures to find out.

If you’re running the bit version of Firefox (and you’re running bit Windows), visit this page on Mozilla’s website. Search for your language and click the Windows bit “Download” link.

Close Firefox (all windows) if it’s running. Then, run the bit Firefox installer you downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to install it. The bit version of Firefox on your PC will not be uninstalled.

Launch Firefox using the desktop shortcut or the shortcut on the Taskbar, if you pinned Firefox to the Taskbar.

Again, using our procedures for finding out which version of Firefox you’re running, you’ll discover that you’re now running the bit version. And all your settings, bookmarks, extensions, themes, etc. have been preserved.

As we said, the bit version of Firefox is still installed on your PC. When you upgraded Firefox to bit, the Firefox entries in the Start menu list and the shortcuts on the desktop and Taskbar are replaced with calls to the bit version of Firefox. You don&#;t need to do anything further, but if you want to uninstall the bit version of Firefox, you can.

To do that, open the Control Panel and click &#;Uninstall a program&#; under the Programs category. Then find the Mozilla Firefox entry in the list with &#;(x86 en-US)&#; at the end. Be sure you don&#;t select the Mozilla Firefox entry with &#;(x64 en-US)&#; at the end, which is the bit version you just installed.

If you decide you want to keep the bit version of Firefox so you can run it sometimes, you can find the executable (.exe) file in the C:\Programs Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox directory.

If you want to run the bit version of Firefox by default again, simply download the bit version of Firefox, run it, and follow the on-screen instructions to install it. You can use the Start menu entry and the shortcuts on the desktop and Taskbar for Firefox to run the bit version again.

How to install the real Firefox on Debian?

First, you need to remove the existing Iceweasel package (I think you can use as well):

Then, download the latest Linux build of Firefox directly from Mozilla. Extract the files, and navigate to that firefox offline installer 32 bit - Crack Key For U, and run it.

Firefox Decrypt is a tool to extract passwords from profiles of Mozilla (Fire/Water)fox™, Thunderbird®, SeaMonkey® and derivates.

It can be used to recover passwords from a profile protected by a Master Password as long as the latter is known. If a profile is not protected by a Master Password, passwords are displayed without prompt.

While not supported, you may find that will work in some configurations.

Testing

If you wish to run the test suite locally, chdir into and run

If any test fails on your system, please ensure is installed.

If tests continue to fail, re-run with then please file a bug report including:

  1. A mic is a mono signal. There's only one channel. If you're only hearing it on one side it's because you have a stereo input selected. To fix this make sure on your input routing it says "1" not "1/2" otherwise it's looking for two inputs and will pan them to the left and right channels of a stereo track.
